She knew he had turned Harlen.
Harlen was in a deep sleep. Ember sat by the bed, doting on his lover. Harlen groaned in pain, but remained in a death like sleep. Ember stroked Harlen's bare chest, and pulled the sheets over him. Ember was sitting in a chair next to the bed. He had one leg crossed over the other. Harlen moaned and cried out in pain as fangs jutted from his gums. Having once been through the same thing, Ember knew how much pain he had been in, and now Harlen was experiencing it. Harlen would get a double dose of vampire blood and werewolf blood.
Ember had once had his heart pulled from his chest, yet he hadn't died. Then, he had been infused with werewolf blood. He leaned in, and cradled Harlen in his arms, who's eyes opened. Ember had run down to the kitchen to get a non-alcoholic bottle of blood. He poured Harlen a glass, whose eager eyes were searching for what he smelled. He drank daintily, and then set the glass aside, though it toppled over. He gasped for air, for breath. Then he lay still. "Ember, I want to go hunting." Harlen said quietly, and groggily.
Jumping pick a back style onto Ember, the other man carried him down the stairs and to the car. He walked to the passenger side, and opened the door for him and helped him get into the vehicle. Ember closed his eyes, wondering what was going to happen. He drove them to the city, which took some time. Under his watchful eye, Harlen got out of the car. Harlen did not want to make Ember angry, and being gay, he decided to persue a woman target. He had gotten a few tips from Ember, who was standing close by, as he hypnotized a woman with swirling blue-ish green eyes, then he drank from her throat. It wasn't too sloppy.
The blood was so delicious. It tasted amazing. Why hadn't Ember let Harlen into this world sooner? But it had furthermore consumated their relationship. Harlen moaned softly at the taste of the blood, and he could still feel Ember's body on him. He pulled away from the female, and her body sunk and collasped onto the ground. Harlen darted for the car, feeling skittish. Maybe this was the resolution to the anorexia, Ember thought, seeing strength in Harlen that he hadn't seen since the younger male had been getting off of heroin.
"You ready to go home..or?" Ember asked. "I want to bring you on a date,"
"No! No!" Harlen shrieked. "I want to leave here and go home." His hands were animated, in front of his small body, his fists clenched with painted blue nails. "I liked drinking the blood, but my heart is racing, please, bring me home?!"
Ember stepped lightly on the gas and they took off back to his mansion.
Harlen was lead out of the car, and carried in Ember's arms, then up the stairs they went.
"I want to sleep by myself tonight, I'll come get you if I need you," Harlen said, being protective of himself.
"I doubt you'll be able to sleep, but alright.." Ember said, unsure. He watched Harlen go off to his seperate room. Ember decided to check on Ayria. He went to his daughter's bedroom, and saw her soundly sleeping, but he laughed when her eyes darted open and spied upon him.
"Hey, Ayria," Ember brushed his fingers through her hair, and kissed her forehead. "Have any good dreams?" He asked her, knowing she wasn't quite old enough to respond. Charlotte stormed in, yanking him away from Ayria, and said, "I can't believe you, but it's about time you turned him." She arched an eyebrow, looking at where he had harmed himself to feed Harlen his blood. "I hope your decision pays well, but you know he is trouble. You know that. All he does is cause you suffering. I don't know why you put up with him."
"Charlotte - he does not. He needs someone in his life."
"Oh - how about just another set of Johns then?" She snapped. Thinking Harlen was disgusting filth. But she knew that Ember loved Harlen. They were all polyamourous, there was no need to get this way.
"It's my blood you shared with him, I have the right to be angry!" She commented.
"Well, I've been a vampire or almost 200 years, it's about time I turned someone, and I love Harlen, very much so. I gave up a lot for our relationship, and I have to say that I am satisfied with the way things turned out, and this could be the answer to dealing with his anorexia. I have tried so many times to feed him so many different things. It was disappointing, but I kept trying. I love him, Charlotte.."
She'd never forget the look in his eyes when he told her that he loved Harlen. He seemed distant, and far away. As if he'd gone elsewhere. She shook her head. "Well I love you, too, Ember. And we are together, also. You should've let me know what you were going to do. Did you plan this or something? You really should've told me."
They heard a sudden crying out from Harlen's room. Walking quickly, Ember went to Harlen's side. He can be so fucking irresponsible, Charlotte thought, looking at Ayria. And what kind of planning had Ayria been? It had to have been an accident.
Charlotte, you know I wanted a child for a very, very, long time.
She heard him in her mind. She supposed her thoughts had been loud.
"Mia's coming to pick you up soon," Charlotte told Ayria. "Your mother will be here shortly."
At least Ember had packed Ayria's bag. Little girl things, just waiting on Mia.
In the bedroom of Harlen's, Harlen was laying in the big bed, almost lost in it, and complaining he was in pain. "Still?" Ember commented, not realizing that it had been a powerful concentration of supernatural blood. Harlen had been frail and weak. "'I'm fine, I just need you." Harlen rolled over and Ember climbed into the bed to hold him. "Wait, I'm still thirsty... That woman wasn't enough to feed off of." Ember left and got more blood for Harlen, another glass. He extended it to him, and Harlen drank thoughtfully. Harlen's eyes had changed, and he lay into the pillows and blankets deeply. Harlen hardly ever slept in here. He was mostly with Ember. Charlotte and Ember met in Charlotte's room, most of the time. Harlen was gay, so there was nothing going on with Charlotte, and no one else. He did not really know how to function as an adult by himself. He was so damaged from the streets, from prostitution. He had caused a pimp to fall in love with him. Harlen wrapped his arms around Ember, and sobbed a little bit. "Being turned is very painful, it was like I died."
Ember didn't want to frighten him. He just laughed and told him, "You're not dead. You're more alive than you've been." He kissed Harlen's forehead. Harlen reached for the television remote, but was suddenly asleep again. The tv played in the background, and Ember lay there contently for a few moments in time, moments he cherished, but he had to get Ayria to Mia. His cellphone was ringing, he silenced it and answered the phone. It was Mia saying she was close to his home.
Ayria was grabbed up in his arms, he lifted her high into the air, and she laughed. He smiled at her, and held her close to his chest, with her bag. Mia met him at the door. They talked softly. Mia found it hard not to check him out, but she took her daughter's belongings, and left. Ember breathed a great sigh, relieved of his parental responsibility, and thought he would treat himself to a bloody and alcoholic beverage. He went outdoors. To the lake. He started to take his shirt off, flinging it to the ground and Charlotte's voice reached him.
"We're not done talking, Mr." She said to him. She walked up to him and played with his nipple piercings. "So you turned your first vampire. Well he's a hybrid. You're a hybrid. But you still haven't shifted into a wolf. He can. When will you? Yes, I know he needs you."
"He's asleep and in pain, he took more blood." He smirked at her, and wrapped his arm around her waist. "I was going to swim, want to join."
